STAR Center visits New York Harbor School Students

STAR Center attended the NY Harbor school on 9/20/22 to discuss training and educational opportunities available to those high school students interested in pursuing a maritime career.

The New York Harbor School is a maritime high school that provides a college and career preparatory education built upon New York City’s maritime experience that instills in students the ethics of environmental stewardship and the skills associated with careers on the water.

During the visit STAR Center met with the NY Harbor School staff to discuss potential partnership opportunities to provide additional exposure for their students to the maritime industry. This was followed by a presentation on the STAR Center and training programs and it’s TECH Apprentice Engineer to the junior and senior high school students in the Marine Operations, Welding and Diving career and technical education programs at the school Program. The day concluded with the Marine Operations class demonstrating their boat handling skills in New York Harbor.
