Employment

STAR Center currently has the following full time employment opportunity:

1. Instructor/Developer - Engine Department. A minimum of a 1st Assistant Engineer U.S. license is required, with a Chief Engineer license strongly preferred for this position.

STAR Center is looking for a full time engineer instructor/developer to instruct STCW, Professional Development and TECH (OICEW) courses. Engineers who have experience as Chief are preferred but officers with time as First Engineer will be considered. Tasks include developing curriculum IAW USCG NVIC guidance and STAR Center ISO procedures; acting as subject matter expert on engineering related topics; and instructing engineering classes as well as the administrative requirements related to teaching. In addition to strong engineering technical skills, instructor/developers require good interpersonal communication skills and computer literacy. Many courses require development and delivery of courses on desktop or full mission simulators.
